MYUAV Bridge Inspection Drone Tethered System
The Bridge Inspection UAV Tethered System is a highly accurate, unlimited endurance UAV system for the inspection of cracks on the underside of bridge structures.MYUAV provides continuous power to the UAV through a tethered power supply, allowing the UAV to hover and perform inspection tasks for extended periods of time.
I. System composition
Tethered power supply: arranged on the bridge surface or on the ground to provide continuous power to the UAV through an electrical connection.
UAV: equipped with a high-definition image acquisition system (e.g. gimbal and anti-shake camera), responsible for inspecting the bridge surface.
Navigation and Positioning Module: employs an inertial navigation system and/or a GPS system for navigating and positioning the UAV and obtaining positional information corresponding to the initial image and the bridge surface.
Data processing module: includes image acquisition module, positioning and navigation module, processor and memory, responsible for data processing and storage.
I. Testing process
Initial Image Acquisition: The UAV takes off and lands from the bridge deck or the ground, photographs the bridge surface, and acquires the initial image.
Grey scale correction: Grey scale correction is performed on the initial image to remove the noise signal caused by uneven auxiliary lighting.
Image segmentation: The corrected image is divided into pixel-level image, cell-level image and block-level image, and the random noise signal is eliminated by grey-scale calculation, and then the background signal on the bridge surface is eliminated based on the neighbourhood difference histogram segmentation calculation, so as to detect the crack region on the bridge surface.
Edge tracking: Edge tracking is performed on the crack region to extract the geometric features of the crack.
Data processing: Process the acquired image data using AI recognition technology to identify the disease points and display them in 3D visualisation.
II. Advantages of tethered drones
Easy to operate: the operator is in a safe place on the bridge or on the ground, the operation is simple and does not affect normal traffic.
Strong endurance: compared with a simple drone (endurance of about 30 minutes), the tethered drone has ground power and can fly continuously.
High detection accuracy: High-resolution inspection images combined with AI recognition technology make the identification of disease spots more accurate and comprehensive.
High safety: no need to build a frame or basket to cooperate with the personnel inspection, which greatly improves the safety.
